Relish Contemporary Food – In the Spotlight

How did Relish begin?

From a high-profile event catering for Porsche 20 years ago, to even more high-profile events catering for Jaguar Landrover, Dyson, and some of the UKs hottest ticketed events, Relish Contemporary Food has developed into company that attracts only the best.

What type of cuisine do you specialise in?

Our talented and creative team of chefs create dishes influenced by ethnic and cultural tastes from across the globe, as well as recreating from our traditional English roots. We also specialise in a variety of diets – from gluten free to paleo, raw food and more.

What geographical areas do you cover?

Across Gloucestershire, the South West, London, and the rest.

What makes you stand out from other caterers?

We are a bespoke caterer and like to spend time getting to know each of our clients, ensuring they have a beautiful wedding or other special event. We have a very dedicated team of chefs and event managers who all have several years of experience. Nothing is beyond our scope.

What is the typical process when planning the catering for a wedding?

Planning a wedding can be difficult for even the most organised bride-to-be. The checklist is endless—there’s the dress, the venue, the cake, the decor—and of course the menu. Our best advice is to choose food that you like, and let us take care of preparing, presenting and looking after you and your guests on the day.

Are the menus set? How much input can the bride and groom have towards the menu choices for their wedding day?

We offer a mix of set and bespoke menus to enable our clients to have exactly what they like for their special day. We work to our client’s budget, and will take care of special diets, locally sourced produce, organic and more.

What are your most popular dishes at a wedding?

This year (2014) it has been lamb, with so many different cuts and style of cooking it really is very versatile and can be used in lots of different ways. Our favourite dish this year is a slow cooked shoulder of lamb marinated with garlic and rosemary, cooked on a very low heat for 10 hours or more.

Does it matter if the wedding venue does not have a kitchen area?

Not at all. We enjoy working at a variety of venues and can work in any given condition. We’ve catered for thousands from our temporary kitchens in a field.

What is your employee dress code?

Smart black trousers, black shirt and black shoes. We are happy to look at alternatives if required.

What is or can be included in a typical wedding package (e.g. waiter service, clean-up, bar service…)?

We try to keep our wedding packages as all-inclusive as possible, for example relevant crockery and cutlery, kitchen equipment such as ovens and fridges, furniture, linen and service staff within our quotations.

What is the maximum number of wedding guests you can cater for?

Anything from 10 to 2,000.

Roughly how far in advance should people consider booking you for a wedding?

We think that a year in advance is a good place to start, this enables us to give as accurate pricing as possible and plenty of time for meetings, tastings and to make sure the date is secured on our calendar.
